SHARP Educator (Part-Time, Variable Hours)
Overview
SHARP Flex Educators play a vital role in delivering SHARP’s mission by facilitating one-hour, hands-on workshops for students in grades K3–5 using SHARP’s STEAM-based curriculum and materials. This position offers an exciting opportunity to enjoy a highly flexible schedule (2–20 hours per week, not guaranteed), perfect for those seeking meaningful work that fits their lifestyle. Educators should be comfortable using technology and engaging elementary students in interactive learning experiences.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate engaging one-hour workshops using arts integration and grade-level computer-based coding to reinforce STEAM concepts.
- Create an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment that promotes experiential learning.
- Adapt workshops to meet the diverse needs of SHARP students.
- Administer student reflections following each session.
- Coordinate and schedule workshops with assigned teachers in a timely manner.
- Participate in SHARP-provided professional development sessions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in education, computer science, technology, the arts, or a related field preferred.
- One or more years of experience teaching or working in an urban school setting with diverse student populations preferred.
- Experience teaching STEAM content to elementary students or willingness to learn.
- Strong technology skills and problem-solving ability; prior coding experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word) and email communication.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Positive attitude, flexibility, and reliability.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus but not required.
Part-Time Hybrid Finance Manager
The Part-Time/Hybrid Finance Manager will serve as a strategic partner to the President and CEO and play a key role in supporting the organization’s financial health and growth. This person in this position is responsible for all day-to-day financial functions of the organization, including accounting, budgeting, reporting, compliance, and audit preparation. The Finance Manager will collaborate closely with senior leadership, the Board of Directors, and Finance Committee to provide clear financial insight and ensure strong fiscal stewardship. This is a part-time position ideal for a seasoned nonprofit finance professional seeking flexible hours and meaningful work.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and monthly reconciliations.
- Perform all balance sheet reconciliations (bank accounts, investment income, prepaids, deposits, accruals, depreciation, expense reports, credit cards, etc.)
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements; compile reporting materials for leadership and the Board; oversee all financial projects and programs, and grant accounting.
- Develop, manage, and implement general ledger and fund accounting systems and procedures, and other expenses to programs and functional areas through monthly cost allocation.
- Manage and track deferred revenue, restricted and designated funds, in-kind donations of goods/services and release those as instructed by the donor or President & CEO.
- Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
- Monitor cash flow and forecasting monthly.
- Oversee and manage the annual budgeting and planning process in collaboration with the President & CEO; review all financial plans and budgets, monitor progress, and keep senior leadership informed.
- Track and manage deferred revenue, restricted and designated funds, and in-kind donations; release funds as instructed by donors or the President & CEO.
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process; liaise with external auditors and the Finance Committee; ensure completion and accuracy prior to timely filing of IRS Form 990.
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or related field, experience in not-for-profit finance or accounting.
- Robust analytical skills for data evaluation across multiple financial software programs to produce high quality reporting, and audit coordination.
- Strong analytical skills and experience working across multiple financial software platforms; proven ability to ensure accuracy and quality of financial data, reporting, and audit coordination.
- Ability to translate complex financial information into clear, understandable terms; strong presentation skills for Board and leadership audiences.
- High level of integrity, credibility, and commitment to SHARP’s mission.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, QuickBooks, Adobe, and Excel.
